Louis Vuitton Says Farewell to Marc Jacobs

As the creative director of Louis Vuitton since 1997, Marc Jacobs has turned it from quaint leather goods company to a fashion powerhouse. Sadly, after he showed his spring 2014 collection, LVMH announced his departure from the french luxury goods label. This is so Jacobs can focus on his own brand as he looks to take it public. With collaborations with urban artists and bold ideas in clothing and accessories Marc Jacobs has made Louis Vuitton easily recognizable around the world. For his last collection for the house, Jacobs created all black clothes, every so often pairing them with worn-in blue jeans. Amazing embellishment, texture, and headpieces made it more show girl than somber funeral. Jacobs recreated runways from previous seasons such as the escalator, hotel hallway, train station clock, fountain, and my personal favorite, the merry-go-round. In this collection, you can see that we are mourning a loss, yet celebrating his accomplishments and bright future. Nicolas Ghesquiere, formerly of Balenciaga, is set to replace Marc Jacobs. I don’t know about you, but I am super excited to see where Vuitton goes next…
