Best and Worst: 2014 Golden Globes

Olivia Wilde looked amazing on the red carpet in a stunning emerald green Gucci gown. She did what I wish most pregnant women would do: forget the mumu and embraced the bump! Wilde’s makeup was fresh and flawless and her hair had perfect beachy waves. Olivia Wilde accomplished a look that was elegant and sexy without looking like she was trying to hard. Bravo!

Newcomer Lupita Nyong’o had a true red carpet “moment” in a fiery red Ralph Lauren confection.  She has only been on a few red carpets for her role in 12 Years a Slave and she nails it every time! The sheath silhouette is classic old Hollywood, but the off-the-shoulder cape makes it sleek, modern, and regal. Nyong’o is a stunning actress and this gown just enhances that. She is definitely the next “it”girl.

Cate Blanchett has always been a fashion risk taker because she wears super high fashion on the red carpet and it  always pays off. This Golden Globes was no exception. Blanchett wore an incredible Armani Prive gown with intricate lacework. It may be black, but because of the details and shapes, it stood out for all the right reasons. Her hair and makeup were also perfection because they read old Hollywood glamour and you can never go wrong with that.  Blanchett was a big winner (she won best actress for her role in “Blue Jasmine”) on stage and the red carpet.

Andy Samberg’s wife, musician, Joanna Newsom, showed up at the 2014 Golden Globes looking like she was on her way too a southern prom in the 80’s! It was too frilly and overwhelming on her. I hope that this was a joke from Andy Samberg because it was horrid!

I was so sad to see Sandra Bullock in this hideous Prabal Gurung gown. It was such a shame because she has been looking so good up until now. The dress is too young for her, the color scheme is really bad, and her shoes look so old! Her makeup is way too heavy and I hate the ponytail because it looks like she just threw it up like that to go too the gym.  I still have faith in you Sandra! Please, do not disappoint again.

Another stunning actress who came to the Golden Globes in a tragic dress is Hayden Panettiere in Tom Ford. This dress makes her look chubby, which she is definitely not, and she has managed to make Tom Ford look Cheap! The stupid brooch on top only ages her. I liked this dress better when it was done with long sleeves on Julianne Moore at last year’s Golden Globes.
