I was very excited to see Lacoste’s spring collection because I have been a huge fan of the brand’s sporty chic aesthetic ever since I could walk. For the show, I chose a fuchsia Lacoste V-Neck sweater, a white button-up shirt, relaxed jeans, and black Steve Madden wing-tip oxfords. My ensemble was sophisticated, clean, and modern: very Lacoste. Felipe Oliveira Baptista has created many collections around elegant sports such as tennis and golf, but this season, Babtista steered Lacoste in a yachting direction. The show opened with a modern, yet classic, Americana take on the luxe pastime. As the show progressed, the intense, competitive side came out. The overall feeling was fresh and minimal, but playful proportions and asymmetrical details gave the ensembles a mighty impact. I loved the windbreakers flouncing around from the waists of both men and women because it reminded me of Dior’s “new look” reinvented for the sporting life. Lacoste’s spring 2015 presentation seemed like a work of modern art: sleek and bare separates mixed with punchy and inventive mod minis. Ideas for my dream vacation on a fabulous yachting voyage in the Mediterranean are already swirling.
