Tadshi Shoji titled his Fall/Winter 2015 collection “the Beauty of Flight.” A fitting title, given that the designer’s airy dresses and dream-like silhouettes are already reminiscent of a bird’s gracefulness. Tiers of exquisite feathers bouncing down the runway and head to toe embroideries made of airplane parts, held an incredible allure; just like man’s never-ending fascination with aviation. Tadashi was in his element this season, creating the feminine and opulent looks that shot his star to fame. A welcomed tweak was each ensemble’s lightness compared to those of the past. More skin peaked out from shear gowns and even the most structured of cocktail looks felt effortless in their styling, making for a sexier and more sensual collection. I have my eye on a certain lilac finale dress embroidered with elegant plumes; fingers crossed it’s a red-carpet pick for today’s Academy Awards.
