To celebrate the opening of Burberry’s Rodeo Drive flagship, Christopher Bailey and his team journeyed across the pond to put on a fashion show for the ages. The glamorous spectacle took place at the Griffith Observatory, nestled in the Hollywood Hills, and payed homage to all things British. As soon as guests arrived, they were welcomed into a blossoming, English garden complete with custom gates and classical music provided by a full string quartet. Once seated, A-listers from both fashion and film were treated to a monogramed, cashmere scarf with the label’s signature check. Christopher Bailey’s hippie-chic Fall 2015 collection paraded down the runway alongside ensembles exclusive to the Rodeo Drive location. The pieces combined the elegance of English tailoring and the easy spirit of California living; making for a harmonious display of artistry from both cultures. Burberry even flew out the First Battalion Grenadier Guards to lead fringe, leopard, and patchwork clad models in the final procession. To close the night in style, a light show was projected onto the famed Griffith Observatory building and a cocktail party for all invitees to enjoy. With major designers like Tom Ford, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton choosing to show their collections on the West Coast, the question is: will LA be the world’s next fashion capitol? Only time will tell.
