What to Wear over 4th of July Weekend

Looks from Marc Jacobs, Chanel, and Max Mara SS16

This season, designers from all over the globe looked toward the red, white, and blue for inspiration, coming up with a new sort of chic patriotism. And we could not be happier! Americana entering into the high-fashion lexicon means 4th of July weekend no longer requires a costume-y ensemble of flags and mis-matched separates. Instead, borrow from the runway and try out casual pieces that retain a nostalgic sensibility. Swap  your everyday denim with a high waisted pair in a shade of bright red, or even choose a mini dress as a unique alternative. For tops, go nautical with a boat neck tee that will take you anywhere. If you have a jam-packed schedule you might want to try a hands free approach and seek out a leather backpack. Should your July 4th weekend plans lead you to the beach- just as Taylor Swift and her band of it girls’ did- pack a rash guard that hits all the right sporty notes.
