This season we are revisitng the classics- leopard print, military jackets, and tartans are among the biggest trends for Fall. As for accessories, nothing has stood the test of time quite like quilted leather. Brought into popularity in February of 1955, when Coco Chanel released the now-ominous 2.55 flap bag, quilting has become an immediate signifier of chic sophistication. This technique, however, proves it has an edge when mixed with modern stripe quilts and heavy metal details like on Saint Laurent’s Monogramme shoulder bag. Jeremy Scott at Moschino gave the staple a cheeky look with a line of printed trompe l’eoil pieces. Equally unexpected is finding the diamond pattern south of the ankle; Gianvito Rossi’s excellently crafted ankle-strap heels are a perfect match for any ensemble.
